 Information about Lake Whitney
and the surrounding area.

Lake Whitney is located on the main stem of the Brazos River in Central Texas.  It is approximately 30 miles north of Waco and 70 miles southwest of the DFW metroplex and sits on the border between Bosque and Hill counties.  Lake Whitney boasts 15,760 acres of lake and 250 miles of shoreline, which makes it perfect for  swimming, fishing, water skiing, camping, kayaking, picnicking, or just relaxing on the shore with a good book.

In addition to being a great vacation destination, the lake is also a perfect spot for family or class reunions.  Lake Whitney is dotted with resorts eager to fill your every request, from cabin and room rentals to group facilities. Great restaurants, marinas with boat rentals, and nearby convenience stores help make vacationing at Lake Whitney a wonderful experience.  But don’t take our word for it; ask any one of the over 2 million people who visit Lake Whitney every year.

If you are searching for one of the prettiest lakes in Texas, look no further.  With its scenic shorelines and bluffs, beautiful tree-lined picnic and camping areas, and friendly locals, Lake Whitney is as close to perfect as it gets.
